Chapter 5 · 5.6
Creating charts
Watch it in a short video
A chart shows at a glance how numbers relate to each other. As an example, we'll create a chart of revenue per month.
Inserting a chart
- Select the data, including the headings. In the example: the months and two columns with revenue (A3:C15).
- Go to the Insert tab and click Chart (1).
- Choose a type: column, line, pie, bar, area, scatter, radar or a combination.

Not sure which one to pick? Choose Recommended Chart and Euro-Office will suggest a chart that suits your data.

Customising the chart
- Drag the chart to a different spot, or drag the corners to resize it.
- Click on the chart; on the right, in the chart settings (1), choose a different style, a different type (Change type) or different data (Select Data).
- Click on the title or the legend to edit the text. Use Show advanced settings to turn on axis titles and data labels, among other things.
If you change a number in the table, the chart updates straight away.
Tip: want a small chart in a cell, for example to show trends per customer? Use Sparkline on the Insert tab.
